Food Journal- Day 32 (Heidi)

So one of the reasons for this blog, besides keeping track for ourselves, was not about a diet. It was about what we eat. And why. And to show how it can be difficult for a busy mom to eat well.

Today was a good example of this.

For breakfast I had shredded wheat and milk. I almost never have a hard time with breakfast, it's usually at home, and I love grainy cereals. I don't usually need sugar, and I wake up hungry. I never skip it, and I rarely need anything fancy.

"Lunch/Snack" happened at my daughters school today. They hosted a "Readers Dinner theater" and it was a pot luck. We brought dessert.

So I had the worlds smallest slice of pizza. It was about half (but I got the small side) of a small slice. I had a small spoonful (think plastic spoon) of cherry cobbler, a small 1"x1" brownie bite and about 10 pieces of pasta and a slice of olive from the bowl of pasta salad. :) I also had a bite of a  bite sized cinnamon roll. There were lots of fruit salads, but they all had melon mixed in, which I LOVE but I suffer from oral allergies and melon especially causes small blisters and itching in my mouth. So I want to eat it, but cannot.

Then I had lunch later, a bowl of salad and a diet Dr. Pepper.

Snack again was a little more cobbler. I had to bring it home and it was calling my name. So I had a total of about 1/2 cup from both servings.

Dinner was a turkey sandwich which is "half a sandwich" at Beyond Bread, but really that means "Still really giant" and I ate the chips.

We had a lovely dessert of Creme' Brulee at the resort we went to last night for girls night. But it was very resort like (aka very small) ;)

And because we were at a resort an hour north of my house, I got home really late. Which is why this post is delayed.

Do you face the same challenges? Kids activities/parties, office goodies, etc? How do you handle it? Small servings like me? Skip it altogether? How do you handle it if you skip eating so as not to seem rude in a pot luck situation?

  1. No. I think that my problem is that I always let it be "okay today because it's a 'special' occasion" It seems like nearly every day is some reason why today it's ok. That has been what I've noticed by doing this. I always have an excuse.
